After the buzz about Napoli considering a swap with Chelsea involving Romelu Lukaku resurfaced, the agent of Victor Osimhen, Roberto Calenda, took to X to dismiss it.
“I’ve read about unfounded imaginary trades involving Victor, shipped around like a package ready for delivery. But remember that he is the top scorer of the third Scudetto in Naples’ history. Respect and no more fake news!”
While there might be some substance to the chatter, the deal is ways away from getting completed, La Repubblica informs. Napoli would consider loaning out Osimhen only in late August and if there are no alternatives, provided they get Romelu Lukaku from Chelsea for favorable terms.
The Partenopei aim to cash in on fully for the time being. They might accept if the Blues offered €70M plus the Belgian marksman. They have struck a deal on a three-year contract with €3M wages with the former Roma star. The Nigerian talisman’s contract would also be a hurdle.
At this stage, Napoli and Chelsea aren’t actively negotiating for Osimhen and Lukaku. The Serie A side hopes PSG will come back with a higher bid after their initial one fell short of their request.
Their forward is attending their second pre-season retreat in Castel di Sangro, as his departure isn’t imminent. He won’t practice fully but will keep working on his conditioning. Instead, the Blues outcast wasn’t selected for the team’s American tour and will train in London along with a few other players in the same position.
