Napoli, Sevilla, and Inter Involved in Midfield Triangle

Napoli have identified Boubakary Soumaré as a suitable replacement for Frank Anguissa, who has been called up for AFCON, and have opened talks with Leicester City and Sevilla, where he’s currently on loan. They are getting an assist from Inter. The Spanish side is in advanced discussions to bring in Lucien Agoumé.

According to Il Corriere dello Sport, the exclusion of the midfielder from the recent game against Athletic Bilbao for supposed personal reasons has raised doubts about his future. The Partenopei have been after him for a while. They had targeted him last summer.

Soumaré has quickly climbed the Napoli wish list. They inquired about Emre Can, but he has a €18M valuation and earns €4.5M. While they like him, if they were to spend, they’d do it for a younger player. That’s also the problem for Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg. Tottenham would let go of him only for a definitive formula and a large sum.

In the meantime, Sevilla might have already found a substitute. They have surpassed Olympique Marseille at the final corner for Agoumé. He has stayed in Milan in the first few months of the season, playing just four minutes, after consecutive loan spells at Troyes and Stade Brestois.

Our Take on Napoli and Soumaré

Having already invested a little in Jens Cajuste, who was supposed to handle those duties, they’ll happily delay another disbursement in the same position to the summer. The Leicester City loanee would be an upgrade.
