Napoli Shortlist Scalvini as Race for Min-jae Intensifies

Napoli defender Kim Min-jae is a wanted player. The former Fenerbahce stopper has been instrumental in manning the Partenopei backline enroute a historic third Scudetto title, and his performances have continually been noted by interested clubs, especially from England.

The South Korean stopper is trailed by Premier League giants Manchester City, Chelsea, and Manchester United, as per Radio Kiss Kiss Napoli (via TuttoNapoli). All suitors will have two weeks at the beginning of July to activate the Min-jae’s release clause, which currently stands at €45M, despite his contract expiring only in the summer of 2025.

Liverpool are in the picture too, while Paris Saint-Germain are also expected to participate in the bidding process, according to Telefoot (via Le10Sport).

With such developments, Napoli have shortlisted Atalanta’s Giorgio Scalvini to succeed Min-jae in the southern city. However, Inter and Juventus are also set to take part in the transfer race come June. While they will have to shed €30M or more for Scalvini, president Aurelio De Laurentiis reportedly expects bids in excess or around the €60M to grace the club’s coffers.

Napoli are understandably unwilling to let Min-jae part ways, but it will be hard to turn down such high offers for the 26-year-old. Moreover, they will have no control over his future in the early portion of the transfer window considering the presence of a variable release clause.
