Napoli are evaluating whether to sign a midfielder in January since they’ll lose Frank Anguissa for a month due to AFCON. They are keeping tabs on a few playmakers and could strike if the price is right. They intended to do that last summer, but Al-Ahli pipped them at the post to purchase Gabri Veiga.
According to Il Mattino (via OneFootball), the Partenopei have joined the long list of Andrea Colpani’s suitors. He’s having a brilliant start to the season but is also expensive and highly sought after. Monza would like to keep him till June, at least.
Napoli are keen on two other inventive players, Lazar Samardzic and Olympique Marseille’s Amine Harit. Udinese have the same intention as the Brianzoli, but they had de facto sold him to Inter last summer. Instead, the latter plays in more offensive positions. He too could take part in the upcoming international competition, though.
The trequartista has scored once and recorded 5 assists in 16 appearances across all competitions so far, proving to have fully recovered from a major knee injury. He spent a lot of time at Schalke 04 in the past.
Our Take on the Napoli Plans for January
Considering their traits, those options have very little to do with Anguissa and a lot more with the uncertain futures of Piotr Zielinski and Elijf Elmas, whose contract quietly expires in 2025. It was odd that they weren’t really in on Samardzic last summer given their long-standing interest.
