Napoli Shotstopper Meret High on Spurs Wishlist as Lloris Successor

Napoli shotstopper Alex Meret has not gone unnoticed, as clubs eye to sign him on a permanent role. The Udine-born keeper has been a rock in between the posts for the Partenopei, letting in just 14 goals slip by him to maintain the league’s best defensive record.

As per latest developments from La Reppublica (via Tuttomercatoweb), Antonio Conte’s Tottenham have Meret high on their wishlist to take the place of French goalkeeping legend Hugo Lloris. However, a move cannot be expected this winter for the 25-year-old keeper, who has proved vital in Napoli’s chances for the Scudetto title.

Perhaps Napoli would be open to selling him in the summer, but not before the evaluation of his contract which expires in the summer of 2024 – not to forget there is an option to extend his contract by another year.

The Italy international has 118 appearances for Napoli since joining from SPAL in 2018.
