Napoli Snap Up Brescianini, Target Fenerbahce Star

Napoli have scheduled the medicals for Marco Brescianini and have reportedly reignited their interest in Sebastian Szymanski, who has been in their crosshairs in multiple windows. The player is eager to transfer to Serie A, Turkish publication Aksam reports (via Transfermarkt).

The Pole has been highly productive during his time with Fenerbahce. He has posted 14 goals and 20 assists in 59 appearances. He came in for €10M from Dynamo Moscow in 2023. The playmaker previously played for Legia Warsaw and Feyenoord and has made 36 appearances with his national team.

After finalizing the Brescainini deal, Napoli could tender €20M including add-ons to onboard Szymanski. It might be enough to satisfy his team’s request. The Azzurri have also been linked to Brighton’s Billy Gilmour to shore up the position.

Per SOSFanta, the Frosinone midfielder will join for €12M with the formula of a loan with a mandatory option to buy. Instead, Jens Cajuste’s move to Brentford for a comparable sum is on the verge of collapsing. Michael Folorunsho is very available on the market.

Our Take on Napoli, Brescianini, and Szymanski

It’s hard to imagine José Mourinho will greenlight the departure of one of his best players not long after taking over. Plus, if they wanted an attacking midfielder in their squad, they should just keep Folorunsho. Their other targets are more defensive-minded and better fits. They probably had to accelerate for Brescianini because Atalanta might get aggressive at the position if they do sell Teun Koopmeiners.
