Napoli beat the likes of fellow rivals Juventus and Milan to sign Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, and he didn’t have to wait long before showcasing his skills, as the southerners beat minnows Anaune 10-0 in a friendly yesterday.
He was unveiled by the club in an official press conference thereafter, taking the chance he reflected on a host of thoughts surrounding his move from Georgian club Dinamo Batumi.
When quizzed by reporters why he chose the Azzurri, he said he didn’t think twice because of the club’s reputation of playing good football (via TuttoNapoli).
“Because they are a very strong team, they play good football. When I got the official offer from Napoli I decided immediately, I didn’t think twice about it. I feel I have made the right decision.”

He also mentioned that his favorite position on the pitch is on the left wing. He will wear the number 77 shirt despite the fact that his favorite number is 7, which is what Eljif Elmas wears.
“Seven is my favorite number, but there was only double seven left, it brings me luck.”
There were chats of ‘Kvaradona’ when the attacker arrived in Naples, in reference to his mercurial ability similar to the legendary Diego Maradona. Kvaratskhelia remained humble when addressing the topic.
“He means everything for Napoli, if they call me that is a great responsibility. I can’t even get close to Maradona, but I’ll do everything to make sure the fans are happy with me.”
