Napoli Staple Zielinski Inches Closer to Al-Ahli Move

Napoli are going full-throttle for Gabri Veiga because they expect Piotr Zielinski to depart soon, as Al-Ahli stepped up their pursuit. The Azzurri rejected a pair of bids, but the Saudi suitors will likely meet their request soon enough.

According to La Repubblica, the departure of the Pole is fast approaching. The Partenopei asked for a €30M fee and should soon be offered as much. The midfielder has already come to terms with his prospective new team. He’d earn roughly €12M per year.

Zielinski could bolt Napoli and join Al-Ahli by the end of the week, the publication informs. He’ll most likely be spared in Friday’s friendly versus Apollon Limassol because the deal is in advanced stages.

Aurelio De Laurentiis previously played hardball but is on the verge of caving. The veteran also reportedly repelled the first proposal from the Middle East to sign an extension but didn’t finalize it. The Saudi suitors are about to sway both parties. He has been at the club since 2016 and has racked up more than 300 appearances.

Our Take on Zielinski, Napoli, and Al-Ahli

The move is more understandable than others in the same vein, but it’s unclear what caused the pursuit to regain steam after he signaled his intention to re-up his contract. Perhaps the Azzurri pushed him out a little considering the fee, which wasn’t so enticing at first.
