Napoli Star Agent Quiets Manchester United Chatter

Manchester United are said to be the most likely destination for Napoli star Kim Min-Jae, as they are reportedly prepared to activate his release clause in early July. However, his camp pumped the brakes in an interview with Star News Corea (via Tuttomercatoweb).

“It’s not true. He’s concentrated on the final matches. Moreover, it’s not yet certain which English team will qualify for the Champions League. We aren’t in a hurry to decide his future.”

While his agent dispelled the notion that Kim already made up his mind, he confirmed that Manchester United were keen.

“They have been interested since he was playing in China. However, we always just chatted about it. There have been no direct talks lately. In addition, he will have to mandatorily enlist in the army in June.”

Since Napoli haven’t come to terms on a new contract with Kim, he could be lured for €50/60M early in the summer. The total isn’t fixed but hinges on the revenue of the buyers.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Napoli have been readying for such possibility. While they are keeping tabs on multiple options, Lens’ Kevin Danso is currently top of the list should they make a defensive addition.

Our Take on Kim, Manchester United, and Napoli

The buzz about the Red Devils had gotten louder and louder, but they shouldn’t count their chicken before they hatch, and playing in the Champions Leagues seems a major factor. The window for the Partenopei to agree to a new deal is probably close, but not all hopes all lost yet. Danso would be more similar to him than Giorgio Scalvini.
