Napoli Star Fabian Ruiz Set to Join PSG

Fabian Ruiz is reportedly on the verge of cutting short his time at Napoli to join Ligue 1 heavyweights Paris Saint-Germain. As per Calciomercato, the Spanish midfielder has already struck an agreement with PSG over personal terms.

It’s now up to the French side to convince the Partenopei to sanction the deal. Ruiz has less than a year left to run on his current contract at Napoli. Despite the club’s relentless attempts to extend his stay, the Spaniard’s future seems far away from Naples. Aurelio De Laurentiis knows that and is ready to negotiate his sale.

However, the Italians are unwilling to lose their standout playmaker for peanuts. Napoli reportedly want up to 25m to let Ruiz swap allegiances in the final days of the summer transfers window. With PSG having no problems matching their demands, the 26-year-old could soon be on his way to Paris.

Indeed, the deal could be closed on Monday as PSG boss Christophe Galiter looks to incorporate Ruiz into his starting line-up as soon as possible. Aware of the player’s desire to leave, Napoli head coach Luciano Spalletti has omitted him from both opening Serie A games this season.

Ruiz was said to be injured last week as Napoli thumped newly-promoted Monza 4-0 at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona. Stanislav Lobotka, who filled his shoes in that match, chipped in with a goal and produced an impressive performance overall.

If Lobotka can maintain his early form, Napoli may not need to dive into the market for a new deep-lying midfielder. Tanguy Ndombele has joined the club on a season-long loan from Tottenham Hotspur and could be a decent go-to option should the Slovak fail to keep up momentum.
