Napoli Star Increases Demands to Renew His Contract

Napoli will try to touch up and prolong the contract of Khvicha Kvaratshkelia right after the end of the window. While the agreement seemed close in previous weeks, and the Georgian had a quiet summer, his camp has upped the requests, Corriere dello Sport relays.

His agent Mamuka Jugeli will fly to Italy shortly. Aurelio De Laurentiis will be back from vacation later this week. A meeting should take place soon. The two have been in touch over the phone.

The gap between the offer and the request has widened as of late. The entourage of Kvaratshkelia asks for €5M wages plus add-ons. The figure is well above the cap set by Napoli, with just a few select exceptions.

The parties were close to concurring on a €3/3.5M salary early on, but things changed. The representatives of the player increased their demands. The 22-year-old is already tied to the Azzurri until 2027. He would tack on an extra year should he ink an extension.

Our Take on Napoli and Kvaratshkelia

The club still holds all the cards considering his long-term contract, but this is the side effect of handing out large wages to other players. It’s shaping up to be a complex negotiation, but, luckily for Italian champions, they have plenty of time to come to terms.
