Napoli Star Forward Not Thrilled About Joining Chelsea

The prospective swap between Victor Osimhen and Romelu Lukaku has quickly gone backward after the recent chatter. His agent came out to dismiss it, and the Blues might have preferred doing it on loan. Moreover, Aston Villa have started chasing after the former Roma ace.

According to Corriere dello Sport (via OneFootball), the Nigerian star isn’t particularly high on the destination. It’s not certain he’d accept it even if the two clubs struck a deal. Arsenal are keeping tabs but haven’t concretely come forward.

Instead, Osimhen would gladly join PSG, but the Ligue 1 giants are playing the waiting game. They believe Napoli will significantly lower their request late in the window. The same strategy was successful for Fabian Ruiz a couple of years ago. However, the Azzurri had a lot less leverage due to his short-term contract.

The French powerhouse thinks the Partenopei will settle for just €60/70M in late August since they don’t want to keep an unhappy player with a monstrous salary relative to their standards. The two presidents aren’t on great terms following the attempt to lure Khvicha Kvaratskhelia.

The impasse is holding up Antonio Conte’s side on the transfer market. On top of Lukaku, the money would be utilized for a couple more quality purchases.

Our Take on Osimhen, Napoli, PSG, and Chelsea

No Champions League and the general confusion at the club in recent years might be the reasons behind his doubts, but he’d probably sign off anyway if there were no alternatives, provided they tendered adequate wages, as there were reportedly issues on that front too.
