Victor Osimhen and captain Giovanni Di Lorenzo were the first Napoli players to talk to the press after the team clinched their third Scudetto. The marksman spoke to various outlets (via Tuttomercatoweb).
“It’s a great emotion for me. We’ve been waiting for many years to bring the Scudetto to Naples, and we did it. It’s a day we will never forget. This feeling is wonderful. I can’t quantify it. We were underdogs at the start of the season. Not many believed in us. We did it thanks to our unity, a great coach, the president, and everybody else at the club.”
Osimhen named the turning point of the campaign.
“When we beat Roma at home we understood we could win it all. They are a strong team, and we fought until the end. We figured out that we had what it takes in that game thanks to the strong mentality of the group. I’m still learning my role, and the vibes have been great for me since day one here. Now it’s not the time to speak about my future.”
Di Lorenzo weighed in too.
“Being the first captain to lift the title since Diego Armando Maradona leaves me speechless. I’ve cried along with Mario Rui after the game. We are looking forward to celebrating. The city waited for too long. The fans convey their love and passion. They were incredible today as well. I’ve enjoyed every moment. We have had an extraordinary season and finished it in the best possible way. Neapolitans deserve this joy. We grew game after game, and that got us here. Ending a 33-year drought is incredible. The 5-1 win over Juventus gave us major self-confidence.”
