Napoli Still Unable to Meet Sassuolo Demands for Raspadori

Sassuolo CEO Giovanni Carnevali has cast doubt on Giacomo Raspadori’s long-awaited switch to Napoli, admitting there’s still no agreement between the sides. In an interview with Radio Radio, via Calciomercato, Carnevali insisted on the gap between his demands and the Partenopei’s offer.

Will he go to Napoli? It may not go as planned,” he said. Sassuolo have pinned a substantial €40m price tag on Raspadori’s head. Aware of the growing interest in their jewel, the Neroverdi are sticking to their guns. In addition to Napoli, Juventus and Inter are also interested in the talented forward.

However, Napoli boss Luciano Spalletti has identified Raspadori as his number one target. After the departures of Dries Mertens and Lorenzo Insigne, the Partenopei are short of options in the frontline. Their desperate need for a new forward puts them at the head of the queue for the 22-year-old.

Earlier reports claimed Napoli and Sassuolo were set for showdown talks after Raspadori agreed on personal terms with Spalletti’s team. The Italy international wasn’t part of the Neroverdi team that fell to a shocking 3-2 Coppa Italia defeat to Modena last time out. It was a clear indication that the highly-rated starlet could be on the verge of leaving the club.

But with Sassuolo reluctant to budge on their valuation, Napoli can either up their initial bid of €28m or walk away from negotiations. That’s not what Spalletti would want to hear, with the new Serie A season already underway.
