Napoli Strike Agreement to Sign Tottenham Outcast on Loan

Napoli have come to terms with Tottenham Hotspur for the transfer of defensive midfielder Tanguy Ndombélé. A verbal agreement for a season-long loan deal with an option to buy has reportedly been struck by the two European giants, as they seek to conclude the deal by this week at the latest.

Napoli are bound to lose Fabian Ruiz to Paris Saint-Germain soon. The Spaniard has been omitted from his side’s first clash of the new season against Hellas Verona at the Stadio Marc’Antonio Bentegodi on Monday.

Negotiations are currently taking place between the player’s agent and the Italians. Napoli sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli spent the weekend in Paris to discuss the personal terms of the loan transfer with the Ndombélé’s representatives.

The Frenchman has failed to etch a regular starting spot under four successive Spurs managers, including Antonio Conte. He was loaned out to Lyon for the latter half of the 2021/22 Ligue 1 season. However, the French giants opted out of making his move permanent.

Suitors including Nottingham Forest, Aston Villa, Milan, Villarreal and Galatasaray have been linked with his signature. Ndombélé joined Spurs back in 2019 for a €60M fee, surpassing the previous club record set by Davinson Sanchez.
