Napoli are on the prowl for a new defender and have been offered Oumar Solet, but the negotiation to onboard him isn’t as advanced as some outlets suggest. The Partenopei have doubts because he has often missed time with injuries, Gianluca Di Marzio reports.
If they proceeded, he’d join on an initial loan with an option to buy. The 23-year-old has been routinely attached to a move to Serie A, most recently to Roma. He has appeared 13 times this season, scoring and assisting once. He has dealt with knee and thigh problems.
According to Foot Mercato, Napoli have an agreement in place with RB Salzburg, and they are conversing with Solet and his camp. He moved to Austria from Olympique Lyonnais in 2020 in a €4.5M transfer. He has piled up 91 caps since.
The Azzurri will announce the arrival of Cyril Ngonge today. They are expected to round out their window with a central midfielder and a defender. On top of the Frenchman, they are tracking Arthur Theate. They have offered €15M, but it might not be enough, Il Mattino relays (via Mediaset).

They have already done some business with the Red Bull group, so there wouldn’t be problems on that front. They definitely need another man, especially if Walter Mazzarri plans to stick with a three-man line after Thursday’s surprise. However, since they already have a talent who struggled to find his footing, they’d be better off adding a more experienced player.
