Napoli Touch Base for Juventus Winger on His Way Out

Napoli have inquired about Federico Bernardeschi. His agent Federico Pastorello also represents Alex Meret. The front office has been in talks with him to negotiate an extension or eventually move him.

The name of the winger came up during the conversations with director Cristiano Giuntoli, La Gazzetta dello Sport informs. He will be available on a free since Juventus elected not to re-up his expiring contract. The Partenopei will lose Lorenzo Insigne on the wings this summer. Although they have already secured the signing of Khvicha Kvaratskhelia.

Still, the Italian international is versatile and could play in every position behind the striker in their current 4-2-3-1 scheme. Bernardeschi is open to joining Napoli, but his demands on wages are significant. He was making €4M in Turin and wishes to at least maintain such level. Instead, the Partenopei have been keeping their wages-bill in check. They would like to further reduce it in the upcoming window.

The Partenopei could start a negotiation to onboard the 28-year-old down the line depending on how other situations develop. They would have to make another offensive addition if they could not come to terms with Dries Mertens.

On top of Bernardeschi, Napoli have also been linked to Gerard Deulofeu. His agent Albert Botines told Radio Marte (via Corriere dello Sport): “We have long agreed with Udinese that he would depart this summer. The Azzurri are certainly a great option. The transfer market is starting to heat up, and a few clubs have asked for information.”
