Napoli Without Favor for Obsolete Liverpool Striker

There have been increasing reports linking Liverpool striker Roberto Firmino with a move to Italy. Roma, Inter, Milan, and Napoli have been constantly mentioned in the English media – The Sun in particular – as potential destinations for the soon-to-be free agent, but Rai Sport journalist Ciro Venerato has eliminated one of those three from the equation.

Bookmakers in England have been backing Firmino to arrive in Naples next season on a free transfer, placing Barcelona, Bayern Munich, and Milan next in line. However, according to Venerato (via TuttoNapoli), the Partenopei are absolutely oblivious to signing the Brazilian center-forward.

“There is total denial mixed with irritation on what was written by The Sun. Napoli is absolutely not interested in the free agent from Liverpool. The Neapolitan club follows younger and less expensive strikers. The salary ceiling established is €2.5M net (except for Osimhen only).”

Calciomercato has also backed these claims, pitching Napoli out of the frame for the Reds striker. Napoli have new signings Giovanni Simeone and Giacamo Raspadori well in line to take charge if Osimhen is lured away from the South of Italy.
