New Atalanta Weapons Not Living Up to their Price Tags

Atalanta drew praise for their offensive additions after cashing in on Rasmus Hojlund last summer, but their newcomers haven’t kept up the good form after a strong impact early on. El Bilal Touré quickly suffered a massive thigh injury. Gianluca Scamacca and Charles De Ketelaere have been hit-or-miss as of late.

According to Corriere di Bergamo, La Dea is getting the same production from their frontline as in previous seasons. However, they had spent a lot less on their new attackers in the past. They shelled out €57M, plus roughly €30M should they retain Belgian talent from Milan after the loan spell.

Coach Gian Piero Gasperini has preferred rotating Scamacca and De Ketelaere rather than fielding them together. Ademola Lookman has been the fixture of the formation and their most consistent man. Their additions have also spent time on the mend with minor injuries.

The former West Ham and Sassuolo striker has bagged five goals in ten appearances. Instead, the inventive attacker last put his name on the stat sheet in late September. He has scored and assisted twice in 15 matches.

Our Take on Atalanta, De Ketelaere, and Scamacca

They have been okay but not superb. They might be players who don’t react too well to alternating. It wouldn’t be hard to find a way to field all their top three attackers together with a slight tactical tweak. They’d benefit greatly from it.
