New Inter Hero Marcus Thuram Delivers Verdict on Fiorentina Win

Inter humbled Fiorentina 4-0 at Giuseppe Meazza on Sunday evening as Simone Inzaghi’s new formidable attacking partnership demolished La Viola. Lautaro Martinez and Marcus Thuram picked Vincenzo Italiano’s side apart with an astonishing performance to keep Nerazzuri on par with Milan at the top of the Serie A table.

Thuram opened the scoring with his first-ever Inter goal, heading home Federico Dimarco’s inch-perfect cross in the 23rd minute to hand the home side a 1-0 lead at halftime. He set up the second goal, serving Martinez on a silver platter with one of the best first-time passes you’ll see in Serie A this season.

Hakan Calhanoglu tripled the hosts’ advantage from the spot before Martinez took his seasonal tally to five goals, leapfrogging Milan’s Olivier Giroud at the top of the scoring charts. Not even Martinez’s phenomenal scoring exploits could’ve cast a shadow on Thuram’s top-class showing.

Speaking to Inter TV after the victory, Thuram praised the atmosphere at Meazza and opened up on his feelings after getting off the mark in Serie A.

It was wonderful to score at San Siro in front of our fans, to score and win the match, a perfect evening for us,” he said, as relayed by Tuttomercatoweb. “I thank the fans for the support and strength they give us, even away from home like in Cagliari, thanks to all of them.

Thuram’s match-winning display helped Inter head into September’s international break as one of just two Serie A sides with a 100% record after three rounds, alongside Milan.
