New Inter Star Picked Serie A Over the Premier League

Benjamin Pavard once again expressed his satisfaction with choosing Inter in the summer despite having other options in an interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport.

“It was the right call. I’ve been welcomed very well by everybody, from Simone Inzaghi to Javier Zanetti. I discovered a nice dressing room. After seven years in Germany, I wanted a new challenge and motivation. They pursued me in January, and their project was what I was looking for.”

Pavard confirmed that Olivier Giroud tried to lure him to Milan.

“Yes, he did. However, he told me more about Italy, Serie A, and the fans than about his team. It was a key point for me. I love the warmth of the supporters, and I found it.”

The Frenchman previously stated that the Premier League was his favorite championship.

“I’ve elected to come here because the project allows me to play in the role I prefer. I’ve been following Serie A for many years, also for its tactics. Italy is a hotbed for defenders. In my mind, there were all the right conditions for this choice. It’s different from the Bundesliga. The opponents track back together very well. It’s more difficult to face even mid-tier teams.”

Pavard weighed in on the training methodology.

“We run a lot more than at Bayern Munich. I was surprised by the intensity of the sessions, even the pre-game ones. The approach is diverse.”
