Juventus Newcomer Milik Reveals Reason Behind Jersey Number Pick

Juventus signed Polish striker Arkadiusz Milik on loan from Marseille to reinforce their frontline following the high-profile transfers of Angel Di Maria, Filip Kostic and Paul Pogba. With previous Serie A experience with Napoli, Milik hopes to provide the Bianconeri unequivocally in the final third, where he will likely pair up with Vlahovic.

He spoke to the official channel of Juventus in his first press conference (via TuttoJuve) and revealed his thoughts on the transfer to Turin.

“I am very excited, because it is a beautiful day for me. I signed with one of the greatest clubs in the world, so I am very happy, also because I am back in Italy. I speak Italian, I’ve been here for four years in the past.”

When quizzed about his experience in France with Marseille, Milik expressed his admiration but revealed he ‘missed’ the Peninsula.

“It was a change for me, because it was another league, another way of playing. It was certainly a good experience, because I felt good there but I missed Italy a little and I’m happy to be back.”

Milik then finally disclosed why he chose the number 14 jersey.

“Because so many numbers were already filled and also because my idol Thierry Henry used it (at Arsenal)”.

Milik is in line to make his Bianconeri debut tomorrow against Roma at the Allianz Stadium. The Polish marksman appeared 122 times for Napoli from 2016 to 2020, scoring 48 goals in the process.
