Newcastle United have been active in the transfer market ever since the club’s acquisition by the Saudi-led consortium. Their recent transfers have helped them rise over the relegation zone they were stuck in for more than half a season.
However, they do not look satisfied yet and will go ahead with their intention of luring two big names from Napoli, one of which is more likely than the other.
According to Naples-based newspaper Corriere del Mezzogiorno The Magpies reportedly sent scouts to monitor Victor Osimhen and Fabian Ruiz during the Partneopei’s 1-0 defeat against Milan earlier in March. Both players have been monitored by the English side for quite some time now.
They bid around €40m for midfield ace Ruiz back at the start of January during the transfer window which was outrightly rejected by Napoli for the Spaniard, whereas the Partenopei expect nothing less than €100m for Nigerian star Osimhen.
While both their combined fees will be well worth over €120m, Newcastle do not see a problem in finances. The Tyneside club are preparing a huge overhaul in the summer, as they have almost guaranteed their stay in the Premier League after an utterly dismal start to the season.
Their rekindled interest in the Napoli duo is bound to bring in some much-needed income into the coffers of the club that has been heavily inflicted with pandemic-related financial damage.
Ruiz has been followed closely by other clubs from England such as Manchester United and Liverpool. El Clasico duo Real Madrid and Barcelona have also been linked to him in the past.
On the other hand, Osimhen’s rise to stardom has also attracted the sights of Manchester United and Arsenal, whereas Tottenham Hotspur coach Antonio Conte ‘wants’ the striker for his future plans.
