Serie B Champions Lecce Close In on Juventus Wingback

Lecce are in advanced talks to sign Gianluca Frabotta from Juventus. The wish of the Bologna youth product to start uninterruptedly in his loan spell for Hellas Verona last season didn’t turn out as planned, as the Italy U21 international suffered from COVID-19 and unexpected injuries throughout. The Scaligeri do not intend on holding onto him, taking advantage of which, the Salentini have come forward with a loan proposal to onboard the left-back.

Having won Serie B last season, the Giallorossi are in full flow in the transfer market, making moves to reinforce their ranks ahead of the 2022/23 Serie A season. They just announced to have captured prolific striker Assan Ceesay on free transfer from FC Zurich. He bagged 20 goals in Switzerland last season.

Juventus do not have a place for Frabotta in their squad so, taking that into consideration, they are open for another loan transfer to see him develop, but Lecce want to add an option in the clause for redemption at the end of next season (via Calciomercato).

The left-back has also been linked to being included in a swap transfer to his boyhood club Bologna, as the Juventus management continues aiming at Rossoblu marksman Marko Arnautovic in their search for Dusan Vlahovic’s deputy in the frontline, according to Tuttomercatoweb.

However, newly-promoted Lecce have emerged as the frontrunners to sign Frabotta despite him having garnered interest from various clubs, including Parma. He made just two appearances for Verona last season, partly because of an Achilles tendon injury.
