New Juventus forward Nicolas Gonzalez couldn’t hide his enthusiasm for scoring his first goal for the Bianconeri in an emphatic win against PSV Eindhoven. Thiago Motta’s men impressed on their Champions League after a year away, dismantling the Dutch champions 3-1 on Tuesday evening.
After a disappointing scoreless draw against Serie A minnows Empoli at the weekend, many had questioned Motta’s football ahead of the Turin giants’ Champions League opener. However, Juventus delivered a superb performance at the Allianz Stadium to silence the Italian coach’s critics, with Gonzalez opening his Bianconeri account.
The former Fiorentina winger sealed PSV’s fate at the start of the second half with a lethal finish after receiving a delightful pass from Dusan Vlahovic. His goal made it 3-0 for Juventus before Ismale Saibari netted a consolation strike for Peter Bosz’s side deep into second-half stoppages. Gonzalez shared his thoughts about the game in the aftermath.
“I am happy, we had a great performance. The team played well, we perhaps could’ve done more in the second half, but the result is positive,” the Juventus ace told Sky Sport Italia, as reported by TMW.
“There are very clear ideas, we have the freedom also to do what we know how to do. We always play with a smile, we have to enjoy our football and continue like this.”
Buoyed by a phenomenal Champions League start, Juventus turn to domestic duties as they gear up for a mouth-watering clash against Antonio Conte’s Napoli on Saturday.
