Atalanta have officially unveiled El-Bilal Toure as the club’s record signing. Amid growing speculation linking Rasmus Hojlund with a big-money move to Manchester United, La Dea have completed the most expensive deal in history.
While the final agreement remains a mystery, it’s believed Atalanta have forked out around €30 million to lure Toure away from Almeria. The 21-year-old has penned a multi-year contract at the Gewiss Stadium after rejecting an approach from Everton.
Despite attracting a genuine interest from Sean Dyche, Toure has chosen Atalanta as his next destination. His arrival could accelerate Hojlund’s heavily anticipated switch to Man Utd. The Red Devils see the Danish starlet as an upgrade on their current center-forward options.
Erik ten Hag is desperate to close the deal soon. Toure’s signing can only help United receive a long-awaited go-ahead from Atalanta. The Mali international comes to Serie A off the back of an impressive La Liga season with Almeria.
Toure racked up seven goals and two assists in 21 league appearances for the Spanish side last term. A winning goal against Barcelona in February was arguably the highlight of his La Liga career. But it’s not his only eye-catching showing against the Spanish big guns.
He was also on the scoresheet in a 1-1 draw against Atletico Madrid. Atalanta can only hope Toure’s proclivities for shining against high-profile opponents could bolster their bid to return to the top-four picture in Serie A next season.
