Official: Inter Sign Piotr Zielinski on 3-Year Deal

Scudetto holders Inter officially announced the arrival of Poland international Piotr Zielinski from Napoli on Saturday. Zielinski, who bid an emotional farewell to the Partenopei faithful earlier this week, has penned a three-year contract at Giuseppe Meazza.

Zielinski’s switch to Inter had always been a matter of formality. After refusing to renew his contract at Napoli, the 30-year-old struck a lightning-fast agreement with the Nerazzurri to team up with Simone Inzaghi’s overachievers. But Inter had to wait for Poland to conclude their EURO 2024 campaign before making an official announcement.

A week after Poland flamed out of the tournament’s group stages, Zielinski has completed his transfer to Inter. He’ll earn around €4.5 million net per season. The former Empoli playmaker spent eight years at Napoli, making 364 appearances for the club and helping them end a 33-year Scudetto wait in 2022/23.

During his long-term stint at the Diego Maradona Stadium, Zielinski clocked up 51 goals and 46 assists. His impressive exploits in the front third could make him a valuable asset for Inter next term as they bid to become the first team since Juventus to defend their Serie A title in the past 15 years.

After completing the signing of Zieliski, Inter will turn to Mehdi Taremi. Like the Polish star, the ex-Porto striker will join the club on a free transfer after running down his contract at Estadio do Dragao. It’s only a matter of time.
