Official: Juventus Secure the Signing of Denis Zakaria

With very little time remaining within the winter transfer window, Juventus have managed to complete the signing of the Swiss international Denis Zakaria from Borussia Monchengladbach. The 25 year-old has reached a full agreement with the Bianconeri and is set to land in Turin immediately.

According to reports from Fabrizio Romano, the Old Lady has come to a consensus for a fee of €8M for the box-to-box midfielder. Zakaria is committed to playing with Juventus and is prepared to arrive in Turin in order to complete his medical and sign a contract that will keep him at the Allianz Stadium until 2026.

With the 25 year-old world-class midfielder’s contract set to expire at the end of the season, many European clubs were eager to acquire the Swiss International in order to bolster their starting elevens. Bundesliga giants Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich were keen on signing Zakaria on a pre-contract agreement for next year’s campaign. In addition, Manchester United were enthusiastic about obtaining Zakaria immediately within the winter transfer window to replace the potential departures of Donny Van de Beek and Paul Pogba.

In the end, the Bianconeri have managed to convince the 25 year-old in joining the Old Lady in order to win the race against the other European giants. Signing Zakaria was a main priority for Allegri as the Italian tactician views him as a crucial player who can add stability and security within the midfield through his ability to take the ball off of his opponents, his vision and creativity, and his excellent tactical awareness within the central area of the pitch.
