OFFICIAL: Milan Sign Young Italian Striker on Loan from Monaco

Milan have confirmed the arrival of a second striker this transfer window after acquiring Oliver Giroud from Chelsea. Italy centre-forward Pietro Pellegri has been loaned on a season long basis from French outfit AS Monaco – the Italian giants have announced in an official statement.

The Genoa youth product has been brought into the Rossoneri ranks with the option to secure his services on a permanent transfer at the end of the loan deal, which becomes an obligation if certain conditions are met. He will wear the number 64 shirt.

The promising 20-year-old has been marred with injuries throughout his short career, which has restricted his appearances for Monaco at just 23 caps since joining from Genoa in 2017. However, he will hope for different fortunes at San Siro this time around as he gets to play with his idol and main influence Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

Pellegri became the youngest ever Serie A debutant in 2016, aged just 15 years and 280 days – a feat that was later broken by Wisdom Amey.

He has also garnered one cap for the Italian national team, coming on as a substitute in a 4-0 win over Estonia in an international friendly last year.
