OFFICIAL: Roma Complete Capture of Tammy Abraham from Chelsea

Roma have officially found their heir to Edin Dzeko. After a mission to London, CEO Tiago Pinto convinced Tommy Abraham to be their new go-to striker. The Giallorossi invested €40M to acquire him from Chelsea. The player inked a five-year contract.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the striker will earn €4.5M per season. Roma could pay €5M add-ons depending on how he and the team perform. They will settle the bill through five-year installments. The Blues will have an €80M buy-back clause starting from 2023.

The Giallorossi recently allowed their long-time starter Dzeko to move to Inter. They quickly identified Abraham as the ideal replacement and beat out Arsenal in the race to get him. The 23-year-old fell out of favor at Stamford Bridge once Thomas Tuchel took over. He tallied 12 goals and 6 assists in 32 appearances across all competitions last season.

In addition, his playing time would have taken another hit due to the arrival of Romelu Lukaku. He found the net 15 times in the previous campaign with Frank Lampard at the helm. He had his most prolific years in the Championship, in particular at Aston Villa and Bristol City.

The center-forward told the team’s official site: “You can sense when a club really wants you, and Roma made their interest clear immediately. They deserve to be fighting for titles and trophies, and I want to help them achieve that. It is a massive honor to be the no.9 at this team, and I just can not wait to get started.”
