Official: Sofyan Amrabat Leaves Fiorentina for Fenerbahce

Back-to-back Europa Conference League runners-up Fiorentina have announced Sofyan Amrabat’s loan switch to Fenerbahce. According to La Viola’s website, the Morocco international will spend the 2024/25 season in the Turkish Super Lig as a borrowed player.
Amrabat left Fiorentina to link up with Manchester United on a season-long loan last summer. However, he took too much time to adapt to the Premier League, only starting to show glimpses of his quality down the final stretch of the 2023/24 campaign.
His form resurgence at the tail-end of last season made the Red Devils consider renewing Amrabat’s loan. But talks with Fiorentina never took off. New Viola boss Raffaele Palladino even opened the possibility of the 28-year-old’s stay, praising him for his commitment and professionalism.
The former Club Brugge midfielder started for Fiorentina in a dismal 0-0 home draw against newly-promoted Venezia in their opening Serie A home match last weekend. It led Viola fans to believe the Moroccan could remain in Tuscany before Fenerbahce’s last-gasp approach changed the scenery.
New Fenerbahce boss Jose Mourinho has identified Amrabat as the missing piece in his midfield jigsaw. The Turkish giants stuck a lightning-fast agreement with Fiorentina to sign him on the final day of the summer transfer window.
There’s no time for Fiorentina to think of Amrabat’s exit as they host Palladino’s former club, Monza, at the Stadio Artemio Franchi on Sunday evening, seeking their first league victory of 2024/25. Before drawing against Venezia, they shared the spoils with Parma in a 1-1 stalemate on day one.
