Olympique de Marseille are frontrunners to sign Alexis Sanchez, as the Chilean nears the exit door at Inter. The ex-Barcelona and Arsenal striker is not in Simone Inzaghi’s plans for the upcoming season, with Romelu Lukaku’s re-signing only strengthening links of the 33-year-old’s departure.
As per the latest reports from The Daily Mail, the veteran is mutually interested in a move to Marseille in order to keep playing Champions League football. However, he will first have to agree to a severance package with the Nerazzurri to terminate his contract.
Marseille are in talks with his entourage, but the move can only go through if Inter and Sanchez striker an agreement to rescind his deal a year before its expiration date. The management had a €4M proposal reportedly reject as the attacker asked for his full €7M remaining salary.
Despite that, it is expected that the parties will soon come to an agreement. The Italian side is very keen on offloading him to clear his large salary of its books. Villarreal and Real Betis are also candidates interested in capturing Sanchez, according to Calciomercato, but Marseille are currently in the lead. He has scored 20 goals in 109 appearances for the Nerazzurri.
