Onana Vows to ‘Die on the Pitch’ Against Manchester City

Andre Onana has declared that Inter will die on the pitch when they meet Manchester City in the UEFA Champions League final on June 10th in Istanbul. Inter recently emerged 3-2 winners against Atalanta, a victory that confirmed their place in the tournament next year, and Onana believes playing in Simone Inzaghi’s team is an honor.

“We are a great team, with strong players. For me, playing with them is an honor, I’m very happy. The group is the most important thing of all. If you remember, the first match I played against Bayern Munich I said that this team could make history. After getting through the group, we beat Porto and everyone told me what I said was the truth. I can’t promise the victory because City are probably the best team in the world, but I can promise we will die on the pitch.”

Onana then shed light on his relationship with Samir Handanovic, who is set to end his decade-plus stint at the Nerazzurri.

He’s an Inter legend, he’s done great things. Playing for this team for eleven years isn’t easy, the relationship with him is phenomenal. It’s an honor for me to train with him.”

Onana has himself been linked to leave Inter himself at the end of the season, with Chelsea leading the race to sign him.
