Osimhen Advises Napoli Against Galtier Appointment

With reports flying around about Aurelio De Laurentiis trying to appoint ex-Paris Saint-Germain tactician Christoph Galtier, center-forward Victor Osimhen has reportedly opposed the move. The Nigerian marksman, who is expected to leave Napoli this summer, has reportedly advised Napoli against the decision of potentially hiring Galtier.

The Partenopei need a new coach and despite the lack of urgency expressed by chief De Laurentiis, Napoli fans are evidently eager to know who will lead them in defence of the Scudetto next season.

Galtier, among several others, has been mentioned as a contender for he role, but Osimhen does not see his former coach Galtier coaching Napoli next season, as per Footmercato.

It is a surprising claim, given Osimhen was launched into the spotlight under Galtier between 2019 and 2021 at Lille. The duo helped break PSG’s domestic dominance by winning the Ligue 1 title in 2020/21. It is said that they possess the relationship like that of a father and son.

Osimhen left Lille to join Napoli for a whopping €75m plus bonuses transfer, whereas Galtier departed to PSG. Several candidates, including Paulo Sousa, Vincenzo Italiano, Luis Enrique etc., have been linked with a move to Napoli.
