Victor Osimhen has been the elephant in the room for Napoli so far this summer. The club and the player concurred he’d depart in the ongoing transfer window while penning an extension last summer, but the market has been very tepid so far, Fabrizio Romano reports (via SOSFanta).
Their stances haven’t changed. Antonio Conte confirmed it during his presentation, stating the star would leave, and that he couldn’t do anything about it. His contract envisages a €120M release clause. No side has come close to activating it.
Osimhen prefers the Premier League over other destinations. He was linked to Chelsea early in the window. A partial swap with Romelu Lukaku would have been ideal for Napoli, but the Blues have different plans. PSG are also in the mix, but they are more determined about his teammate Khvicha Kvaratskhelia. Saudi Arabia is only a fallback at this stage.
According to La Repubblica, Manchester United could emerge as a landing spot if they missed out on Joshua Zirkzee. They could dangle Rasmus Hojlund even though they acquired him for €74M from Atalanta just a year ago.

Both parties probably hoped for a rapid solution, but it’s not yet time to panic, as the domino of strikers will start only after the Euros. The main problem is that the number of teams that can afford him is very limited. The Partenopei and perhaps even the striker might have to decrease their requests drastically to find a suitable way out.
