Osimhen to Miss Milan Clash and More Due to Injury

The first of three games between Napoli and Milan won’t have one of its most anticipated protagonists. The Partenopei announced that Victor Osimhen suffered a thigh injury while playing with Nigeria and will be re-evaluated next week.

The striker is dealing with a right adductor muscular distraction. Per SOSFanta, the striker is at risk of missing the first leg of the Champions League’s Round of Eight against the Rossoneri, which will take place on April 12th.

The full extent of the injury will be clearer after further tests. A low-grade strain would keep Osimhen on the mend for three weeks, although it shouldn’t be that severe, Corriere dello Sport relays. It’s the second time he’s been sidelined this season. He previously sustained a similar injury back in September.

In Autumn, the Nigerian star skipped six contests across all competitions with a biceps femoris strain. Napoli effortlessly weathered the storm leaning on Giovanni Simeone and Giacomo Raspadori. As a matter of fact, they won all six matches, including one against the Rossoneri. Their other victims were Spezia, Torino, and Cremonese in Serie A, plus Glasgow Rangers, and Ajax in Champions League.

Their offense didn’t really slow down, as they notched 19 total goals thanks to a drubbing versus the Dutch team. Raspadori will return this week after being out for six weeks extended with a thigh problem.

Our Take on the Osimhen Injury

Napoli have the Scudetto in the bag but, but if he’s out for a while and needs time to get into shape afterward, it’ll be a big dent to their Champions League ambitions. It’s potentially a big break for Milan, although the Azzurri have proven that they can properly replace anybody.
