Two Chelsea Midfielders Draw Interest from Milan and Lazio

After Fikayo Tomori and Olivier Giroud, Milan have laid their eyes on another Chelsea player: Hakim Ziyech. The former Ajax did not have a great first season in Premier League and could be sold for the right offer, La Gazzetta dello Sport reports. Maurizio Sarri instead instructed Lazio to make an attempt to sign Ruben Loftus-Cheek, who spent the last campaign on loan at Fulham and could join with the same formula, Sky Sport report.

Ziyech was acquired for €40M last July and, after an injury-laden first part of the year, he did not have a prominent role with Thomas Tuchel at the helm. The Rossoneri like his versatility, but his €7M salary could represent an obstacle. The talks are in their early stages, and the Moroccan attacker is also on Napoli and Roma’s radar, besides several foreign clubs. Moreover, Milan have not abandoned hopes that Giroud will be allowed to leave for free despite Chelsea picking up a unilateral option to extend his expiring contract.

Sarri is set to soon be officially appointed as the new Lazio coach, and one of his first requests is to bring Loftus-Cheek to Rome. The 25-year-old midfielder had a career year in 2018/2019 when the veteran gaffer was in London, bagging ten goals and providing five assists in 40 appearances across all competitions. He missed most of the ensuing season because of an Achilles tendon tear and was sent to Fulham to get regular playing time in the most recent one. He finished with one goal in 31 matches.
