Inter had to wait until deadline day to be totally sure that the acquisition of Tomas Palacios from Club Talleres and Independiente Rivadavia would indeed get finalized. His Francisco Hernandez commented on the topic to Inter-News.
“There were some tough moments, but that’s part of the job. It’s one extra experience that thankfully had a happy ending. He kept training well and was confident that everything would go in the right direction. We’re grateful toward sporting director Piero Ausilio and the Nerazzurri faithful for their patience and the trust they conveyed to us.”
Inter beat a few clubs to sign Palacios.
“River Plate, Boca Juniors, and many European sides eyed him. However, he told me and his president that he wanted to move to Milan at all costs because it was his dream. He wouldn’t miss out on this opportunity for the world. He’s happy an enthusiastic and has been working hard since day one. His biggest dream is to be called up by Argentina. He has starred for the youth teams. He’ll have to take it step by step and learn from the coach and the more experienced teammates.”
Inter added Palacios to their collection of Argentinian players.
“He’s a fan of Serie A and always followed the Nerazzurri, that’s why he didn’t hesitate to pick them. It’s one of the best clubs in the world historically and nowadays. The heritage of those footballers makes it special, and he wishes to further it. Javier Zanetti is a reference point for all his compatriots on and off the pitch. He made him feel affection and made himself available for his every need since he touched down in Italy. We’re grateful for his warm welcome.”
