Papu Gomez Nearing Surprising Transfer to Sevilla

Alejandro Gomez is likely to leave Atalanta to join Sevilla in the next few days as the negotiation between the two clubs is at advanced stages, Sky Sport and local newspaper L’Eco di Bergamo report. They have yet to reach agreement on the fee as the Bergamaschi have not budged from their €10M request, while the Spanish outfit have offered €6M plus bonuses, but the talks are progressing and it would a solution that satisfies all parties involved.

The player, who showed appreciation for the Andalusians in the past, has already agreed to personal terms on a €3M contract per year till 2023, which is more than what he is making now, and rejected proposals coming from Hertha Berlin and Cincinnati, according to Estadio Deportivo.

Tuttomercatoweb informs that sporting director Monchi could up his bid early in the week after selling young forward Carlos Fernandez to Real Sociedad on a season-long loan with €10M obligation to buy and is also looking to move Franco Vazquez, who is being pursued by Parma, which however want the player for free given his expiring contract.

Our view

Sevilla came out of nowhere over the weekend and has excellent chances of winning the sweepstakes as, with such move, the Goddess would avoid selling Gomez to a Serie A rival, with an okay return, while the attacker would keep playing in a Champions League-caliber team.
