Fiorentina’s hunt for a defensive talent has taken them to South America, with Boca Juniors prodigy Nicolas Valentini high on their wishlist. However, they have not stunted their efforts by shortlisting just one, as Gremio central midfielder Mathías Villasanti is also on the Viola radar.
As per latest reports emerging about the ocean-far saga, Fiorentina are planning to table a €10M bid for the 26-year-old to secure his signature from Brazil.

Villasanti has more than a year left on his Gremio contract, with his current deal expiring in December 2024. Gremio, who are presently in the need to raise funds due to their wobbly financial standing, are ready to welcome bids for the midfield talent.
The Paraguay international has been noted for his ability to star in various roles in the middle third, from functioning as a deep-lying playmaker to even playing upfront as an attacking midfielder.

The Paraguayan is an undisputed starter under Renato Gaucho, having joined the Porto Alegre giants in 2021. While it is unclear how Vincenzo Italiano would utilize the midfielder’s services, it cannot be ruled out that moving to Fiorentina is a step up and could very well accelerate Villasanti’s development.
