Paredes on Juventus Transfer: “I Always Wanted to Come”

Juventus completed the signing of Leandro Paredes on deadline day, which was followed by the loan departures of outcasts Arthur, who joined Liverpool, and Denis Zakaria, who moved to Chelsea. The Argentine arrives on loan from Paris Saint-Germain with an obligation to buy at the end of the season, subject to the achievement of certain sporting objectives.

The new midfield addition spoke to the club’s official channels (via Calciomercato) and shed light on his return to Serie A.

“I’m really happy to be here and to be at Juventus with this group. This is club I’ve wanted to join for a long time. I’m happy.”

The central midfielder was then quizzed as to why he chose the Bianconeri.

“For me it was the dream team, I always wanted to come. I had the chance for many years and I didn’t want to let this chance pass. To my friends and family I said: ‘Either Juve, or nobody’.”

He then spoke about his choice of jersey number 32.

“It’s a number that I really like and that I used at Boca, Empoli and also at Roma. It’s a number that follows me a lot.”

Paredes believes he still has a lot to learn and grow within football.

“I can and want to grow a lot. I still have a lot to work on, I think that in football you can learn something new every day. I come here to keep winning, I know the goals we have and I hope to give my contribution to the team to achieve these objectives.”

The 28-year-old becomes Juventus’ second loan signing following the arrival of Arkadiusz Milik from Marseille.
