Paris Saint-Germain Shortlist Inter Midfield Ace to Feature Alongside Verratti

Despite winning a record joint-tenth Ligue 1 title, Paris Saint-Germain are not convinced that the squad is performing to the best of their abilities. With reports of Mauricio Pochettino’s imminent exit in the summer and the potential arrival of ex-Juventus and Inter tactician Antonio Conte, a host of new arrivals are expected to touch down at the Parc des Princes next season.

The Parisians ‘dream’ of a great midfielder next season and according to Le Parisien, it is Paul Pogba at the top of the management’s wishlist to lead the line alongside Marco Verratti. However, it is the presence of another key target that will affect Italian champions Inter.

Nicolo Barella is the name in contention to play alongside Verratti, acting as a box-to-box midfielder, and thus allowing the Italian regista to take up more of a defensive role. Although the Nerazzurri will unlikely let their star midfielder leave, the financial power of the French club might just be too tasty to discredit.

He has a contract valid at the Giuseppe Meazza until the summer of 2026, meaning Inter have the leverage of demanding a strong asking price – touted to be nothing short of €70-80m.

Alongside Barella, Lazio’s Sergej Milinkovic-Savic and Monaco’s Aurelien Tchouameni are also contenders to move to Paris. However, it is former Juventus ace Pogba who remains the frontrunner.
