Pavard Lauds Lautaro, Hopes to Add Second Star to Inter

Inter defender Benjamin Pavard has lauded Lautaro Martinez after the striker’s historic substitute appearance against Salernitana. The Argentine became the first player to score four goals as a substitute in a single Serie A match, and Pavard hopes his presence will help the Nerazzurri go all the way this season.

Speaking to Rai Sport (via Calciomercato) in an exclusive, Pavard shed light on his Inter adventure.

“Lautaro is a world-class striker, he proves it year after year and will prove it again. He is a leader and our captain. I hope he extends his adventure at Inter, and I am very happy to be teammate with a player like that.”

The ex-Bayern Munich stopper is eager to add a second star to the Inter jersey, as they currently possess 19 Scudetti. In Italy, teams are given a star for every ten league titles earned. Pavard added.

“My goal at Inter? I’m here to win titles. I want to see the second star on the Inter shirt. I will play every competition to win because this is my way of being.”

The 4-0 victory over Salernitana means Inter have achieved four away successes in a row without conceding a goal in Serie A for the first time since 2012.
