Pedro Would Have Liked Barcelona Reunion, Talks Messi

Pedro discussed the upcoming Champions League clash against Atletico Madrid and took stock of the Barcelona season in an interview with Televisione Spagnola (via Fantacalcio).

“I’m happy to face a Spanish team like Atletico Madrid. However, I would have preferred to take on the Blaugrana. It would have been very nice. In my opinion, they improved last summer. I have many friends there, and in La Liga in particular. I’ll meet some on Tuesday.”

Pedro further dished on Barcelona.

“I wish them and Xavi in particular good luck. We’re close. It’s complicated to adapt to a new style of football at times, but I’m sure they’ll manage. Unfortunately, that didn’t happen with Atletico Madrid.”

The Spaniard commented on his former teammates who left the Catalans to move to the MLS. Lionel Messi, Sergio Busquets, and Jordi Alba are all starring for Inter Miami.

“They are very happy and are winning basically every game. They made a great choice.”

Pedro spent the first chuck of his career at Barcelona, collecting 321 appearances and scoring 99 goals. He contributed to five La Liga titles, three Champions League victories, two Club World Cup berths, and numerous domestic cups.

The veteran re-upped his contract with Lazio last summer but is off to a slow start. He logged just 45 minutes through 3 appearances off the bench and missed one game due to an ankle injury.
