Lorenzo Pellegrini made the GOAL50 list that ranks the best players in the world for 2022 and discussed the best moments of his career with Roma in an interview with the outlet.

“I recall fondly many meaningful goals, for starters, the two in the Derby. Also the one versus Leicester City, which was key for advancing in the European Conference League.”

The midfielder praised the contribution of the Giallorossi faithful.

“The ovation I carry in my hearth is the one in the Lazio clash that we won 3-1, when I scored with a heel-flick. The team and I were coming off a sticky patch. It was a must-win game and we succeeded. It has stuck with me.”

Pellegrini was quizzed about the best opponents he has faced so far.

“There are many of them, but I’m a big fan of Lionel Messi. Playing against him was very exciting to me.”

The star coronated his dream of lifting a UEFA trophy with his boyhood club last year, an achievement that eluded two Roma legends.

“Every local kid in my age group grew up with two reference points: Francesco Totti and Daniele De Rossi. They paved the way to all those that love this team. I was also a big fan of Ronaldinho, who conveyed happiness and serenity when he played football.”

Pellegrini has collected 211 appearances with the Giallorossi, scoring 38 goals. He has spent almost the entirety of his career with the capital side. He got his start at the pro level at Sassuolo, spending two seasons in Emilia between 2015 and 2017.
