Paul Pogba got hurt again 20 minutes into his first start of the season. The star midfielder returned to the XI versus Cremonese a few days after setting up Federico Gatti’s late equalizer versus Sevilla, but he didn’t last long. Juventus announced that he suffered a low-grade thigh strain. He might run out of time to come back before the final game on June 4th since he will be out for two-to-three weeks, Sky reports.
His agent Rafaela Pimenta weighed in after the Tommaso Maestrelli award (via TuttoSport).
“These things happen. Fortunately, it’s nothing severe, and he’s recovering.”
If he doesn’t return, Pogba will have played just 161 minutes in 2022/2023. He’s the highest-paid player on the Juventus roster as he earns €8M per year, plus €2M add-ons. Therefore, he made €65k per every minute on the pitch, La Gazzetta dello Sport relays. He’s under contract until 2026.
The Frenchman experienced the second injury-riddled campaign in a row. Multiple muscular problems limited him to 27 appearances in his final year at Manchester United. Instead, in the current one, he spent months on the shelf due to a meniscus tear whose handling was botched, and picked up two thigh strains after recovering.
On top of dishing on Pogba, Pimenta commented on the return leg of the EuroDerby.
“It’s beautiful for Italian football to see Milan and Inter square off in the Champions League semifinals. It will be a week filled with emotions considering that game and all our other clients that will compete to reach the final in Istanbul.”
