Pioli Overtakes Allegri in Peculiar Stat, Talks Future

Massimiliano Allegri has been the king of narrow victories for a few years in Serie A, but he has been surpassed by Stefano Pioli as far as this season is concerned following the most recent round. Milan nipped Empoli without conceding, marking the seventh time they have done it in 2023/2024, OneFootball relays.

Juventus have prevailed in such a fashion on six occasions. Inter improved to five following their one-nil result against Bologna.

Pioli and the Rossoneri leapfrogged the Old Lady in the standings on Sunday. The coach, who received a vote of confidence from the brass, commented on his future (via Goal).

“It’s uncertain for everybody, let alone the gaffer of a big team. I don’t know. You journalists spread the rumors. I keep hearing that the club let me work in the best possible way. We’re focused on the present. What I am experiencing at Milan is exceptional. I’ve given and received a lot since I’ve been here, including criticism. I’m happy and motivated to ensure this lasts as long as possible.”

Zlatan Ibrahimovic backed Pioli to Sky from Saudi Arabia (via Ansa).

“He has to keep up the good work and continue like this. We’re happy with him. I feel good in my new role. I’m learning day after day.”

Milan president Paolo Scaroni also defended Pioli talking to Mediaset.

“It’s just noise from the media. It doesn’t come from inside the team. He has to keep working serenely and everything will go well.”
