In case the ex-Lille forward leaves, with Paris Saint-Germain one of the clubs eyeing him, Milan will target two players who they have kept close tabs on.

Pioli Urges Leao to Stick with Milan Amid Transfer Rumors

Milan coach Stefano Pioli has urged Rafael Leao to stay put in the Rossoneri camp despite interest from other European heavyweights. The Portuguese talent has grown to be a vital part of Pioli’s outfit, playing an instrumental part in the Scudetto victory last season.

Pioli spoke to La Gazzetta dello Sport in an exclusive interview and praised Leao for his accelerated development since moving to the club from Lille in 2019.

“In the most absolute way, I advise him to stay. We have done a lot together but none of us has reached our maximum potential yet. Rafa has had incredible development, exponential and continuous growth but there are aspects in which he can work with even more quality and intensity. Doing it with us, in a context that by now he knows very well, will make it easier. And then I also feel like he’s really happy here.”

Leao has been linked to a number of clubs, including Premier League giants Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United. However, talks between the player and Milan for a contract extension have taken shape in the recent past.
