Pogba Teases Juventus Return but Rumors Suggest Different Future

Paul Pogba headed back to Turin for the Nations League semifinal against Belgium. The midfielder answered a question about a potential reunion with Juventus: “I like the city a lot. I am in touch with my former teammates, like Paulo Dybala. There is one year left on my contract. I am in Manchester now. I want to finish strong this season, and then we will see what happens.”

His agent Mino Raiola also suggested that Pogba would be open to a Juventus comeback. However, recent reports indicate that the star midfielder has strong chances to extend his contract with Manchester United. According to L’Equipe, the Frenchman has changed his mind and might not leave next summer.

The publication adds that the parties have rekindled the talks to prolong his expiring deal. The Red Devils are willing to hand him a €20M annual salary. The lofty sum would make him one of the highest-paid players in the Premier League. The return of Cristiano Ronaldo has had an impact as it underlined the big ambitions of the club.

On top of Juventus, there would be no shortage of suitors should Pogba become a free agent in June. Real Madrid and PSG are also after the 2018 World Cup champion. The French side added Lionel Messi, Gianluigi Donnarumma, and Georginio Wijnaldum in the same method, outbidding the competitors. There are also doubts about whether the Bianconeri could really offer him large wages considering their tight finances.
