Potential Change in Ownership Surfaces Milan Links with Four High-Profile Targets

As Milan prepare for new ownership ahead of the 2022/23 season under Bahrain’s InvestCorp, a set of four names have been revealed to have caught the Rossoneri’s attention to reinforce the squad. The club is reportedly in advanced talks for the change in management personnel from American conglomerate Elliott Management.

Keeping the huge investment around the €300m range that would follow the change of owners, the seven-time European champions have already earmarked four main targets to change the face of the club.

The most interesting name is that of Ajax star forward Sebastian Haller, as Milan remain keen to bring in an established striker to replace veterans Olivier Giroud and Zlatan Ibrahimovic. He has 33 goals and 9 assists in 38 caps for Ajax this season, but it is not in the Eredivisie where he has shone the most.

Despite being knocked out by Portuguese giants SL Benfica in the UEFA Champions League Round of 16 encounter, the former West Ham United striker still ranks among the top three goalscorers this season in the continental competition with 11 goals from 8 matches, just behind arguably the two best center-forwards in the game at the moment – Karim Benzema (12) and Robert Lewandowski (13).

Another potential target is RB Leipzig winger Christopher Nkunku, who has taken the Bundesliga by storm this season. The 24-year-old France international has 30 goals in 44 appearances for the east German club across all competitions.

Highly-rated Roma forward Nicolo Zaniolo is also being linked with a move to Milan, but it is Juventus who are understood to have made initial contact with the Giallorossi for a summer move.

Last but not the least, Monaco center-midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni is another candidate for a summer transfer, given his breakthrough season in 2020/21 for the southern French club. Onboarding Tchouameni would mean bringing in a direct replacement for Barcelona-bound Franck Kessie. However, several top clubs, including Manchester United have emerged as suitors for the 22-year-old France international.
